The coronavirus has disrupted nearly all aspects of our daily life. It has changed the way we shop, work, worship and learn. Families and small businesses have suffered.
But even before the pandemic, our nation witnessed assaults on our freedoms, communities and values.
Now, we need leaders who will restore our way of life.
We can do that – together – by defeating the coronavirus. In the House, I’ve voted for legislation that funds treatments and vaccines, and we are getting closer to having a safe and effective vaccine every day. We are learning more about the virus and how various treatments can help patients affected by COVID-19. We’ve also made health care more accessible through telehealth, and we’re working to expand rural broadband so that Kansans have access to these services.
We will also restore our way of life by reopening the country safely. We know so much more about the virus than we did months ago, and we know that we must get people back to work and school safely and responsibly. And our nation needs to be prepared for future pandemics by modernizing our medical stockpile.
Kansans also deserve safe communities and neighborhoods. It’s why I cosponsored the JUSTICE Act and wrote about the dangerous “defund the police” movement in The Hill. I’ve voted for veteran-friendly legislation like the Commander John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Care Improvement Act and supported our military through the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 that included the largest military pay raise in a decade.
And of course, we must restore our American freedoms and values. I’m so proud to stand for the unborn in our nation’s capital, supporting legislation like the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. I also introduced the Down Syndrome Discrimination by Abortion Prohibition Act.
This November, Kansans will choose between restoring our way of life or the Democrats’ attempt to defund, destroy and dismantle this nation. But with your help, I know we can defeat the virus, keep our communities safe and protect our freedoms.
Sincerely,
Rep. Ron Estes
